Congratulations to Mariela who has completed her PhD. Her dissertation title is: The foraging ecology of loggerhead turtles in the North Atlantic: Evidence from stable isotope values.
Jose was the Coordinator for Flora and Fauna International (FFI) on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua and was instrumental in turning around leatherback and hawksbill conservation there. Currently Jose is a 2nd year graduate student (PhD) at Stanford under Larry Crowder.

Ph.D. Candidate, Joe Pfaller, attended the Southeast Regional Sea Turtle Meeting on Jekyll Island, GA in February and presented a talk titled Adult female loggerhead survival: biased estimates necessitate regional approach. For this presentation, he was awarded the Boyd Lyons Best Student Presentation Award Runner-up.

Marco has arrived from Venezuela. He has a Post-Doctoral Fulbright Fellowship to spend a year at the ACCSTR.
Joe Pfaller and colleagues in Japan, Mexico, Peru, Brazil and Hawaii have published two papers investigating the symbiotic relationship between sea turtles and pelagic rafting crabs. This is the topic of Joe’s Ph.D. dissertation and the papers were published in the journals Marine Biology and Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology.
